The Steam Games Festival: Summer Edition

During June, Steam featured a selection of free demos for upcoming games as part of The Steam Games Festival: Summer Edition which ran alongside the Steam Summer Sale. During this time, myself and WesleyWhale decided to try out a handful of games to write about, however, this handful quickly became two handfuls and before long, it turned into a list as long as my arm. In the  end, we settled on a list of 12 games to try (all displayed in the header) consisting of a variety of styles and genres. After playing through each of the demos, we wrote all about our experiences in this post with a couple of screenshots to accompany our reviews. So, let’s get started!

Games to Beat in 5 Hours or Less

A lot has changed over the past few weeks due to the global Coronavirus pandemic – I’m sure you didn’t need me to tell you that. Whilst the news is plastered everywhere, it’s difficult to avoid the stress from it all, whether it be the virus itself, the panic buyers, or having to come in close proximity with those people who still fail to understand the act of basic hygiene. With a lockdown taking place in many countries – the UK now included – many people are now in self isolation, some of which are working from home. As someone who is used to working from the comfort of my own home, I know it can sometimes be difficult to concentrate with so many distractions around you – especially if you’re going to be committing to this abnormal routine regularly.

[11:11] Games To Get To Know Me

Following the new trending Twitter posts of 10 Games To Get To Know Me, I’ve noticed many people’s answers usually contain games that are similar genres or styles. After thinking long and hard about my answers, I realised that my gaming tastes are so widespread that my list could’ve been mistaken for being drawn straight out of a hat.

This list is going to be a little different to others I’ve come across as I’ve picked my favourite game from a different genre for each answer. Also, with this being a Skylar-Mei list, of course it’s going to feature 11 games! Since I appear to have missed the last [11:11] post, I’ll feature this as this final one in the series – sorry it’s late!

Completions List [2019]

During 2019, I managed to complete 35 games! My yearly target was 40 (although I said I’d be happy with 30) so I’m very pleased with my progress. I was a little worried at first due to only playing 12 games by the end of June, but I managed to pull it back after some changes to my working life which allowed more free time. Obviously, there are a lot of other games I played last year that I didn’t finish e.g. Smite (never-ending) so much more of my time was put into games than credited on this list. I don’t plan to finish as many during 2020, but I suppose we’ll just have to see what happens.

The list below has been taken from the Twitter thread I’d been composing during the course of 2019. After completing each game, I wrote a very short summary on the key points and/or main features also including the platform, hours spent and the date I finished each game. I’ve also rated each game out of 5 and left a description of my rating system below.

11 Most Anticipated Games of 2019 [REVIEW] [11:11]

As December is reserved for my favourite games of the year list, I’ll be taking a look back at the Most Anticipated Games of 2019 post I created in January. All the games on this list have either already been released or are scheduled for 2020, so I feel like this review wouldn’t turn out any different whether I did it now or next month.

30 Day MMO Challenge: Guild Wars 2 Edition

I can’t believe I’ve roped myself into another 30 Day Challenge… Throughout October, fellow blogger, Ruubin Dolle, created her own WoW 30 Day Challenge. I really liked her question list, but as I don’t play WoW, I thought it would be a great idea to use her questions but talk about Guild Wars 2 instead (with her approval of course)!

VGC Day 14: What game made you feel like you were playing a genre for the first time?

Obviously there will always be that first game that introduces you to any genre, no matter what it is. You’ve got to start somewhere, right? I actually have 2 answers for this one, one being more prominent than the other, so I guess I’ll start with that.
