I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for September to come around! I’ve been working an awful lot recently and I’ve not had a proper break since January so I’m definitely ready for some time off. I’ll be spending 10 whole days with my boyfriend, so we’re planning on working our way through a load of games – mostly local co-op games – that have been sat in out collective backlog for quite some time (and also a few new releases).
The month of August has been a little abnormal this time around. Although I feel like I’ve completed a fair few games, they have all been of the same genre – a genre I’m very fond of. With so many games on the horizon, I’m now left with a gaming schedule that pretty much consists entirely of new releases up until the end of the year which is totally new for me. Even though there’s not a great deal of stuff to share this month, here’s what I’ve been up to:
The next few months are looking phenomenal for new releases and there are so many new games I have on my wishlist right now. I don’t think there’s ever been a year I’ve had my eye on so many new releases before, but obviously I won’t have time to play them all at once.
Until last summer, I was never really bothered about Trophy Hunting. I always thought it was a waste of time, but I felt a huge sense of achievement after finishing a few games last year by gaining all the achievements. My views have recently changed and I now feel like getting all the achievements in a game means I’ve done everything the developers wanted the player to experience as well as being able to get more enjoyment out of a game once the story is over. This year, I seem to have prioritised 100% completion for those games I’ve really enjoyed rather than finishing a single playthrough and leaving it alone.
There are plenty of truly wonderful gaming soundtracks out there which can contribute immensely to our personal gaming experiences. I see so many posts on Twitter about great OSTs whether it be appreciation posts, discussions or favourites lists; this topic is certainly a common one – with good reason. However, whenever I see talk of soundtracks, it always seems to be about how well they are written or how suited they are to the game. This is [11:11] after all, so I thought I’d address the topic with a slightly different outlook. As I have a musical background myself, the way music is used in gaming is a topic I’m particularly fond of, so I racked my brains to think of 11 games that have a unique type of soundtrack and / or use of music – the kind that incorporates into the game itself, or those that really go the extra mile to fit into the game’s requirements.
Welcome back to another [11:11] post! So far I’ve talked about Games I Loved But Never Finished and JRPGs I Wish I Had Time To Play, so this time I thought I’d revisit the past and choose a selection of games I used to love when I was growing up.
With another month almost over, it’s time once again to review my monthly gaming progress for May. I’m tweaking the format for my Monthly Summary posts slightly from now on as I felt my categories were becoming a little repetitive. It hasn’t changed a great deal from before, but I’m hoping this will work out better in the long run.
