Monthly Summary: May 2021

Welcome to another Monthly Summary here at gamergal.exe! This month has not turned out as expected… I was planning a bunch of anime posts including a new tournament style series, but unfortunately, they still need a bit of work before I can share them. Since I’m back working my job full time now, I seem to be struggling with my free time management as my hobbies switched focus during lockdown and now I just don’t have time to do everything. I apologise for the delay, but they’ll be posted real soon! As for my gaming month… let’s take a look:

Top 10 Anime OP/ED Songs #AniMay 2021

I’m kicking off “AniMay 2021” a little later than expected with another OD/ED appreciation post! Some Anime have fantastic themes to compliment the series, some of which being existing songs and others being written specifically, but either way, there are some insanely good and catchy songs to be scouted purely through anime. I wrote my first OP/ED post this time last year which had some incredible musical works included – some of which are still some of my all time favourites – so if you haven’t seen it already, please go check it out here!

Monthly Summary: April 2021

Welcome to yet another Monthly Summary here at gamergal.exe! I’ve been much more productive this month, seeing a handful of completions over different genres and I’ve invested much more time into larger games that are still ongoing. I’ve still been watching plenty of anime which will soon come in handy for my yearly month of AniMay, a whole month dedicated specifically towards anime, which will of course be taking place throughout May! Although I don’t look to have been very active recently, I’ve been working on a fair few posts in preparation for this annual event that I can’t wait to share with you all.

Before I get too ahead of myself, let’s take a look back at my progress during April:

Monthly Summary: March 2021

Welcome to another Monthly Summary here at gamergal.exe! March marks the anniversary of my blog and I’m hoping to make more content throughout my 4th year, with plans to bring back reviews for new games! Before I get too ahead of myself (talking about things I aim to do), let’s get back to talking about what I have actually done. Well, there’s not all that much to be honest. This month has been another slow one for gaming but I have at least started a few more games than I had last month. I hope to wrap some of these titles up within the next few weeks as I recently purchased some new games that I can’t wait to try and I promised myself I’d finish what I’d started before I move on. I’m finding this a little difficult though as I’m constantly getting sucked into watching anime – I thought my anime phase would’ve been over by now, but I guess not. I blame my Crunchyroll subscription…

Monthly Summary: February 2021

I know February is a short month, but these past few weeks seem to have been a total blur. I haven’t got a great deal to report in regards to gaming this month as my desire to play anything came to an abrupt halt a few weeks ago despite the amount of new releases I was looking forward to playing. Instead, I’ve been getting completely sucked into watching as many anime shows on Crunchyroll as I can possibly fit in, with Fruits Basket Season 2 being added last night as the 18th series (and 2 films) in just three weeks. That’s more than I watched throughout the whole of 2020…

I was considering adding an anime section to these Monthly Summaries, however, I think I’ll be over this phase in a few weeks so I’m just going to continue as I usually would. At least I’ll have plenty to write for #AniMay this year! Anyway, back onto the topic of gaming, since this is a gaming blog after all – here’s what I’ve been up to during February:

Monthly Summary: January 2021

I’m kicking 2021 off with a pretty good start to the gaming year, even if I do say so myself! This year, I plan to focus on some 2020 releases I didn’t get chance to play and some other larger titles from the backlog. After completing 66 games last year, I’m content with my record and now just want to take my time with games that will last me a good few weeks before moving on. Of course, it’s still a never ending process.

Since I’m not posting as regularly anymore, I’ve decided to pad out these monthly summaries to give a bit more detail on my thoughts of each game rather than just writing out a basic list. Each game of the month will receive a mini review and I’ll be talking a little bit more about the music I’ve listened to each month too.

So, let’s take a look at the events of January:

Monthly Summary: December 2020

Here we are with the final post of the year. 2020 has been quite a year and I’m sure a lot of us will be glad to see the back of it, but it has had it’s upside for gaming. I’ve managed to get through a fair bit of my backlog (66 games to be exact) which I plan to continue with next year.

I’m feeling a little miserable right now as I’ll be seeing the New Year without WesleyWhale for the first time in 8 years, so it’s not like 2021 is going to get the best start, but I hope to start some new games during yet another lockdown next week… I’ll be posting my Top Games of 2020 list next week to completely end the year once and for all, but for now, let’s take a look at what December had to offer.

Monthly Summary: November 2020

It’s actually quite scary to think that this year is almost over. With November done, I’ll be focusing on trying to wrap up as many games as possible throughout December and thinking about my goals for 2021. Before I get to that though, let’s take a look at the events of November – it’s actually been quite productive on the gaming front.

Monthly Summary: October 2020

October has been completely dedicated to Hallowe’en! I love the spooky season most of all, so what better time to play a bunch of horror games to get in the mood. So, let’s take another look at which games myself and WesleyWhale got stuck into this month!

Monthly Summary: September 2020

After my slight gaming lull in August, I feel like I’ve redeemed myself during September. I somehow managed to completed 10 games, publish 8 blog posts and still have enough time to no-life Smite… all in all, it’s been a good month.

With September over, it also means it’s time to pull out the horror games and get into a spooky mood! I have a huge list of games to play with the run up to Hallowe’en and I’m itching to get started. But before I do, here’s what I got up to during September!
