I swear these months keep passing by faster. I’ve had a fairly interesting month in terms of gaming related stuff. I’ve been challenging myself by playing different types of games and I’m honestly loving it! I’ve also managed to play more with my boyfriend than I normally do during an average month which I think has helped with the positive gaming experience.
Firstly, I released the first post of my blogging series this month! [11:11] will be a regular feature on my blog with a release on the 11th of every month. The first post, 11 Games I Loved But Never Finished had way more interaction than I ever imagined, so I’d like to thank everyone for their support and feedback!
I’ve also been working on my Steam Curator page over the past few days. I started this page up last year when I rebranded, but I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with it at the time. I’ve decided to try and review almost every game I’ve ever played, but ideally ‘specialise’ in Visual Novels, Point & Click and Local Co-op games. It’ll probably take some time to get it where I want it, but at least I’ve made the start! I’ll create a separate post on my Steam Curator page once I’m happy with my progress.
Blood Code (PC)
Ni No Kuni (PS4)
Blue Reflection (PS4)
Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[st] (PS4)
Square Enix Humble Bundle (Bought for Tokyo Dark and Forgotten Anne – PC)
I definitely overspent this month. My PS4 has had a lot of use over the past few weeks, and when I was bedridden with the dreaded sickness bug a few weeks back, I really wished I had some more games for the PS4 as I didn’t feel well enough to sit at my PC.
My boyfriend also treated me to the Square Enix Humble Bundle as he knows I’ve had my eye on Tokyo Dark and Forgotten Anne for a while. He’s the best! Now there’s so many games I want to start, I’m spoilt for choice!
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (100%)
Dragon’s Crown (Normal & Hard)
I completed Brothers during an afternoon at the beginning of the month. I played the game in one sitting and even restarted to finish off some achievements I had missed. The story was incredible despite the lack of speech and I now understand why people rate this game so highly. I’ll be releasing a full review of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons within the next few weeks.
The majority of my gaming month has been spent on Dragon’s Crown with my boyfriend. We’re both absolutely loving it and have finished the game on both the Normal and Hard difficulties with just Infernal left to go. We’re aiming for a Platinum Trophy so I imagine there will be a fair few more weekends spent on this game!
The Caligula Effect: Overdose
I bought Caligula Effect on release and although it seemed pretty good, it wasn’t a game I immediately wanted to jump into when I got home from work. However, I played a bit more yesterday and I’m actually getting into it a little more. It has also inspired me to look into some more JRPGs (hence the PS4 haul) so I’m hoping I’ll become a little more engrossed as the story progresses. The music is ace though (and I found out DECO*27 and Pinocchio P wrote songs for it)!
I jumped back into Nioh at the weekend with my boyfriend. We haven’t had chance to play this game for almost a year due to us not having much time during the week and 90% of weekends we spend together. This was a rare weekend we were apart, so we decided to use our time wisely and attempt to relearn the game. I actually feel like I’m better this time around than I was before, despite having a 10 month break! I even managed to complete the “Invitation from the Warrior of the West” mission and finally got my Paired Raiken!
Looking Forward to:
Higurashi When They Cry Chapter 7 – Minagoroshi
Ciconia When They Cry
Death End re;Quest (PC)
World End Syndrome
MangaGamer announced that Higurashi Chapter 7 is finally in Beta! I’m so excited to continue this story after Chapter 6 being released almost a year ago. I know I’ll be buying this as soon as it becomes available. Can’t freaking wait! There’s also been another game, Cicona, announced as part of the When They Cry Series. I’m interested to see what this will be like even though I haven’t got round to playing Umineko yet.
Death End re;Quest has been announced for PC! I saw this game released for PS4 and it instantly peaked my interest. I was thinking about buying it, but I use my PC far more than my PS4, so I’d much prefer to get it on Steam. I’ll probably not be buying this for a while though since I’ve invested in quite a few other games which I want to make time for first, but I’ll certainly be keeping my eye on this one.
Dragon’s Crown has been the game I have played most this month. I’ve been playing this with my boyfriend at the weekends and it’s been a while since we’ve found a local co-op game that we both equally enjoy. We’re around 30 hours in so far, I chose the Elf and my boyfriend chose the Dwarf, but we want to go back after completing Infernal mode to try out the other characters.
The game has incredible artwork and animations, one of the most stunning games I think I’ve ever seen. The concept art you unlock from doing quests is also really cool with lore attached to each one. Despite the game requiring you to complete the same levels over and over again with two different routes per stage, I’m far from bored as the game really is just so much fun with probably the best in-between-stage mini game ever! The only thing I dislike is that some of the side quests have to be done solo.
I will be writing a full review on this game at some point in the future (probably once we’ve entirely finished it) and I hope it will be the introductory post for a series that’s been floating about in my head for over a year now. I highly recommend this game, especially if you have a local gaming buddy! I cannot wait to play more!
Song of the Month:
Sincerely, On This Day The Cherry Blossoms Fall And Sway – Mafumafu
I was completely torn with which song I should choose this month as both Soraru and Mafumafu released songs on the same day (best day ever). I decided to opt for Mafumafu’s new collaboration with Shonen Jump and Shonen Magazine. The video contains so many different manga characters and I’m so pleased Mafu is continuing to achieve incredible things, particularly when it comes to collabs.
I absolutely love this song. If you need a definition of Mafumafu’s composition style, I’d say this is 100% it! The song sounds so similar to his songs for After the Rain’s albums, but I think this is my favourite style for him to compose. Saying that, I do highly respect him for being so versatile and writing in whatever style he wants.
I know I chose Soraru as February’s feature, but this can’t go without mention… Soraru released another song with a live action music video which will be the theme song for the film “Kakegurui” and also feature on his album coming out in July as part of his 10th anniversary. Mafumafu co-wrote the song and you can hear him in certain sections which I absolutely love! I wasn’t expecting a song quite like this, but I think it suits Soraru’s vocals very well. I’m so happy for him gaining so many major career milestones recently, and obviously I’m extremely excited for his album in July! He also released another piano cover today of a RADWIMPS song… this past week in music has just been way too much!
That was quite a long post (apologies for the music ramble)! Thankyou all for joining me once again for April’s gaming summary.
What have you been up to this month? Let me know in the comments!
