My monthly summary is back for the May edition! Personally, this month has been a huge month for gaming both for announcements/releases and purchases, probably due to the Humble Bundle Spring Sale.
Over the past few months, Hi-Rez began another community competition for the next Halloween and Winter Skin. These contests have been taking place over the past few years, but after a tweet claiming Chef Vulcan to be the new community addition if it reached a certain number of retweets was successful, Smite fans became annoyed that a contest was not going to be held this year. To make up for this original idea, Hi-Rez announced that there would be a competition to decide on a new Halloween skin and a new Winter skin!
Generally I’m pretty good at being able to tell whether I’ll enjoy a game or not before I play it. Obviously there are a few I have doubts with, but typically if I don’t get into a game within the first few hours, I’ll give it a miss in the future.
Although I’m a fan of horror films, I haven’t had much experience with horror games. Saying that, I’m not a fan of the cheap horror techniques such as jump scares. I much prefer in depth, story driven, psychological horror so I tend to be quite picky and it’s rare I’ll find a horror that I thoroughly enjoy.
There are thousands of game series out there, so to pick a favourite should be quite difficult due to the vast amount available and variation in genres. For me, there are so many games that I could class as a favourite, but there’s only one series that jumps out at me where I loved each game equally and all together as a whole.
I struggled slightly with this category. When I think of classic games, I instantly think of the old Mario or Sonic games on old systems which was never something I experienced as a kid. I’ve only really been into gaming over the past 5 years, so I’m still pretty new to the scene compared to most other gaming bloggers out there!
Patch 5.9 is the next patch coming to Smite, bringing more balance changes and the next instalment to the Divine Uprising event. This patch will probably be released on 29th May for both PC and Console based on the release time of the previous patch, although there has been no official announcement. PTS is set to released later tonight.
*5.9 will be released on PC and console on Wednesday 30th May!
Divine Uprising is the new event brought to Smite with Patch 5.18. This event will introduce the next 3 new pantheons over a series of 9 patches bringing a whole set of new skins and items as well as 3 new gods and a Limited T5 skin!
There can be many aspects that show passion in a game, whether it be the story writing, character development, game design, etc. The game I have chosen is the last of a trilogy which was released 15 years after the first game, but even though the time between the two is wide, you can still clearly tell that these games are related.
Everybody has that game they can play no matter how they are feeling. We can be drawn to play these games for different reasons depending on what we seek. Some people love a challenge whereas others would be much happier playing something relaxing and simple in order to unwind.
