Patch 5.23 will be the penultimate patch in Smite Season 5 and features a new mini adventure, the final Odyssey items and the reveal of the Godslayer Ares T5 skin as the final Odyssey reward! This patch should be released on Monday 17th December for PC and later in the week for console although there have been no official announcements.
*Edit: Patch 5.23 has been delayed until later in the week. A date hasn’t been set, but I imagine it will be available within the next couple of days.
The final patch, 5.24, of Smite Season 5 will be coming in January with the announcement of Season 6 soon to follow. These patches will be fairly small in terms of balance with the run up to the start of a new Season.
Godslayer Ares is a Limited T5 skin and will be the Odyssey 2019 ultimate reward. This skin won’t be available again so if you want to get your hands on this skin you have until the release of Season 6! This skin has 4 forms, evolving at levels 6, 11 and 16 each having a unique look. The best thing about this skin is the new ultimate animation where Ares flicks his sword and plunges his sword into the ground when he pulls enemies in.
Battle Queen Hera is an Exclusive skin available as the Odyssey reward for reaching 135 Odyssey Points. I really like Hera’s new outfit here, it has a Guild Wars 2 feel about it, but it isn’t much more than T2 skin at the most. There isn’t anything particularly special about it so it’s quite disappointing for such I high tiered reward, especially as Dragon Priestess Nox is the previous reward.
Duel Tech Hel is the first Exclusive skin directly purchasable with the final Odyssey items. I like the concept for this skin as it’s something entirely different to Hel’s previous skins. Although I’m not a major fan of mech and sci-fi skins, I do quite like this one.
Stitched Horror Zhong Kui is the second Exclusive skin directly purchasable with the final section of the Odyssey. This is a great concept which is creepy but kind of cute at the same time. I also like the VXG where he rides around on his brush. The ghost effects are great and I like that they are in a different style to his other skins.
Shadow Stalker Izanami is the third Exclusive skin directly purchasable as part of the Odyssey this patch. This skin follows the concepts previously designed for Ah Puch and Bakasura which were inspired by Studio Ghibli’s Kodama. Although this is probably my least favourite of the three, I like how it has a darker theme this time and I think it suits Izanami well.
Kitty Kaboom Serqet is the final Exclusive skin that will be directly purchasable as part of the last Odyssey patch of the Season. This is probably my favourite skin of the patch and I’m really glad Serqet is finally getting a new skin since her last one was with the Odyssey this time last year. I really thought this was going to be a Bastet skin from the teasers, but I’m pleased with the result.
There will also be Hera’s Unamused Death Mark, Regal Level Up Skin and Argus Ward skin available for purchase as part of the Odyssey and the Regal HUD skin will also be available as a bonus reward.
Count Baron Samedi is the first Exclusive skin this patch to be released outside of the Odyssey. The vampire theme fits Baron so well, especially with his ultimate. The default skulls will be replaced by bats with the colour scheme being much darker. This skin will not be released with the 5.23 patch but will release at a later date with a small update patch.
Jingle Shells Kuzenbo is the final skin release this patch. This is an Exclusive skin which is rewarded to players for participating in one game of the normal game modes (adventure not included) for free until the release of patch 5.24! This skin is quite basic but effective which follows the theme of similar skins for Hel and Sylvanus with the Santa hats and Fairy Lights – very appropriate for this time of year.
Loki’s on the Naughty List, and it’s up to you to punish him! Journey back to Helheim and face The Trickster in the epic final battle from Shadows over Hercopolis! But prepare yourselves, this encounter brings all new challenges, and Loki is sure to have new tricks up his sleeve.
Shadows Over Hercopolis is returning… with a twist! I had so much fun with these adventures and they were by far my favourite to date so I can’t wait to see what this is all about! Although this isn’t a full adventure, I think it could be pretty interesting to try out some of the newer Gods who weren’t released when the previous adventure was live.
This time around, you will not need to collect items as you progress and everything will be available to buy at the beginning of each game. The setting and layout will remain the same from the previous adventure, but there have been a few changes made to offer some surprises.
- Undead Surge – Decreased Slow Duration from 3 seconds to 2 seconds.
- Empty the Crypts – Decreased ultimate duration from 6 seconds to 5 seconds.
- Spear of Mortal Pain – Decreased cooldown from 100 seconds to 85 seconds.
- Conviction – Increased bonus healing from 1.5x to 1.7x.
- Increased base movement speed from 355 to 365.
- Pillar of Agony – Increased protections during ultimate from 60/70/80/90/100 to 60/85/110/135/160.
- Colossal Fury – Also gains a stacking health shield equal to 0.6% of his max health which fades when the ultimate ends. Although still healing for the same amount overall, the heal will now tick every 0.2 seconds rather than every second. Vamana can also pass through player walls during his ultimate.
- Molten He Bo
- Mystic Guardian Athena
Fantasy Points Store:
- Twisted Metal The Morrigan
- Kaiju Sobek
- Torment Bellona
